This stunning 1973 Beetle was seen at Jumpstart 2018 in Loughmore. It was also voted Best Original Irish VW at Jumpstart by Darren O’Rourke of the Original Irish Aircooled VW Facebook page. Unfortunately the owner had left by the time the prizes were announced so if you know the owner you might ask them to contact us here at Beetle.ie (cathal@beetle.ie)
The Sumatra Green paint on this Longford registered Beetle came alive in the summer sun. What a gorgeous looking Beetle and congratulations to the owner on keeping it looking so well.
Update 03/09/18: The owner contacted us today and this is what he said…..
“My Beetle now lives in Liscannor Co Clare. This is an original County Longford car that was bought new by Mr. Franklin Spitz who lived on main St Mostrim, Co. Longford. The second owner was a Mrs Maryann Spitz from Edgeworthstown . The Beetle got a repaint in 2011 to freshen it up. The original tax book and service books are still with it and it shows the mileage of 64,000 from new to be correct.”
Update 19/12/19: This Sumatra Green Beetle was built in the Naas Road factory in Dublin and was then dispatched to O’Reilly’s VW dealership in Longford in October 1973. It was first registered on November 9th 1973
