1303S Beetle

It’s not often we see an original Irish registered 1303S and certainly not one as nice as this 1303S that Patrick Lynch submitted to the Beetle.ie Census.
The 1303S was not assembled in Ireland, MDL instead opting to import fully built up units, of which this is one. Painted Marathon Blue Metallic (L96M), processed at MDL on March 29th 1973 and then sent to Brady’s of Arva to be sold. The first owner was not based in Cavan but in Longford hence the IX registration.
CIX 486 was registered and driven off the forecourt on April 5th 1973 and from what we can see, this 1303S has lived a charmed life, or else it has been the subject of an extensive restoration. Either way, when it was shown at the Streete Classic Car Show in Westmeath on June 26th 2022 it looked impressive. Well done to the owner.
Incidentally, Brady’s of Arva are still main Volkswagen dealers and the dealership is still run by the same family that would have sold CIX 486 to its very happy first owner in 1973. There aren’t too many garages that can say that!
