The Beetle is my partners. We only bought it last Sunday and plan to go full hog and give it a ground up restoration including bare metal respray and full refit.
It was bought on a complete whim, although my partner Michelle has always wanted a Beetle.
We stripped it Sunday, I took the engine out Monday and sent it to the body shop Tuesday! So no messing around….
We know nothing about this Beetle & know nothing about Beetles!
Beetle.ie 18-01-2021: Thanks to Christy for the photos and the background to this story. You’re certainly not hanging about that’s for sure and it’s great to see. We wish you and your partner all the best with this restoration. What we can see is that this Beetle is a LHD 1302 with a steel sliding sunroof. It’s a 1971 model but was imported into Ireland at some point after that. It was registered in Dublin back in February 1973 hence the ZH registration. Many of the German market 1302 Beetles came with steel sunroofs so perhaps this is where it came from. The paint looks like it may have originally been Pastel White (L90D). I know you mentioned that you did not have any history for your new Beetle such as where it came from but over time this Beetle will start to release some clues as to its history and we will be delighted to help you any way that we can.
