Here’s a Beetle that was submitted to us this week. It was for sale in Cavan earlier in 2021 but sold quite quickly so we wish the new owner all the best with their new classic VW. Perhaps the new owner will let us know how they’re getting on with it and we will update this listing.
The Beetle itself is a 1200 Beetle Deluxe that left MDL in Dublin on October 5th 1977 and was delivered to Brady’s of Arva but oddly, it wasn’t registered to its first owner, in Cavan, until 6th September 1983.
It’s unclear as to why this Dakota Beige (L13A) Beetle was unregistered for six years but it could have been a ‘FOR REG’ car, although six years is probably the longest we’ve heard that happening for but as we’ve seen over the years, anything was possible back then in Ireland! It may have also been a showroom car or a garage car on trade plates. We’d love to know the full back story of this Irish assembled Beetle so if you can fill in the blanks we’d love to hear from you.
