Info

Spotted by Pat McNamara while on his travels in the summer of 2019. This particular Beetle was seen on Achill Island and according to Pat looked very fresh, having had a recent repaint.

It’s a 1974 Beetle that was registered in May 1978 in Dublin, hence the EZD registration. We’re not sure about this Beetle’s history but initially we thought it may be a Jeans Beetle. Why? Well, the year, chassis number sequence, Lemmerz GT 4.5j x 15 wheels and from the photo it looks like it is Tunis Gelb L16M so all combined would lead us to believe it is a Jeans Beetle.

Obviously there are chrome bumpers and side trim on it now but the fly window frames are black like a Jeans Beetle. The other no-no is that there are crescent air vents on the rear quarter which a Jeans Beetle never had. Maybe it got new quarters? There are a lot of ‘maybes’ on this one but if you are the owner, please let us know and we can fill in the blanks. It’s a beautifully maintained Beetle so well done to the owner.
