Model information
Standard US spec Beetle
Info
My friend John sent this photo to me while in Shrule back in 2019 and it resurfaced again this week so I thought I should add it to the Beetle.ie Census.
John took this photo while watching the Saint Patrick’s Day parade and said to “ignore the hat in the photo because he barely got his phone out of his pocket on time” and I think we can forgive John for that one!
Not much is known about this Beetle, other than it is a US import Beetle, a ‘Standard’ Beetle as it would be referred to in the US, so not a 1303 or Super Beetle. The US specification Beetles came with the impact bumpers which are so much larger than those of the European models. This Beetle looked to be quite original and as it had a low import registration number had clearly been in Ireland for quite some time. It must only bene taken out for parades and on fine days because it certainly is not something we see at the shows or cruises, but hopefully we will in the coming time.
