Model information
Karmann Beetle Cabriolet
Info
“This Beetle was imported into Ireland from Manila, the Philippines in 2005, along with two other prize winning Beetles, a 1965 saloon (65-G-812) and a 1966 convertible. The ’65 saloon and ’66 convertible are currently still owned by the same family.
When imported, this car was mistakenly registered in Ireland as a 1963 model, but it is actually a 1962 model. Its original colour was Turquoise (L380) and it had a black roof. It was delivered to Chicago, USA in October 1961 and then it somehow made its way to Manila.
This car spent most of its time garaged in Ireland before being sold and exported to Holland in 2020. It spent a short time there before being sold on again to someone in Belgium. The current owner in Belgium purchased it from his friend in early 2024. I have made contact with the current owner and shared what history I have for this car with him.”
Thanks so much for submitting the information and the photos to the Beetle.ie Census. We love a good backstory and that’s certainly got a great backstory. There aren’t too many Beetles that have travelled as much as this Karmann Convertible Beetle!!!!
