My Bug came from Sweden. I bought it in 2007 from a VW guy in Northern Ireland.
It was a project which was off the road since the early 1970’s. The body was fairly solid so I sorted the mechanicals and drove it daily for 18 months.
The recommissioning included 100% new brake components. The engine had been rebuilt by VW in 1969 and once coaxed back to life it ran very well.
The petrol tank was treated including the removal of the Skeletons of 2 mice. I worked on the car in my Dads garage in Dublin.
6 months later it made the maiden voyage under its own power from Dublin to Meath.
