It’s so rare to see Type 4s of any description on the Beetle.ie Census so when we were sent these photos we wasted no time in adding 4976 ZJ to the Census. This 1973 412LE is currently undergoing a full restoration. We can’t wait to see it at the next show, not just because of its rarity but also because Marathon Blue Metallic (L96M) is such a fantastic colour on Volkswagens, especially something as unique and rare as this Type 4.
Well done to the owner for taking the restoration on. It’s not an easy task as so many of the parts are no longer available so it’s a case of fabricating what you need, sourcing good used parts or if you’re very lucky, you’ll be able to locate some NOS parts.
