1303 Beetle

In carrying out research on this 1303 here at Beetle.ie Trev recognised the reg number from an old photo I took at the Kilcommon VW Show in Tipperary. True enough it was the same car but it had changed quite a lot since then.
This 1303 had left the Dublin showroom on January 22nd 1974 wearing a nice coat of Hellas Metallic (gold to you and me) which it happily wore for many years. In fact, that’s how I saw it in Kilcommon but between then and when the more recent photo was taken in Ballyneety it had had a little nip and tuck.
The 1303 was now repainted in what looks like Gemini Blue, the bumper over-riders are gone, the number plates have been replaced with pressed black and silver plates, new popout windows have been fitted, the Marathon wheels and caps have been replaced with 4.5″ GT Beetle rims with centre caps and wheel nut caps. The seats have been changed for ones with headrests, maybe out of a late Karmann Beetle Cabriolet or a Mk1 Golf perhaps.
