When Tommy Walsh from Kerry contacts us it’s always a fun call. Tommy is constantly on the hunt for old Beetles and last weekend was no different but this time the old Beetle was being delivered to his door. Ok, it was being delivered by a man who collects end of life vehicles for a living, but it was still an old Beetle that was being delivered and that’s not such a bad thing on a cold and wet Saturday morning!
When Tommy’s mate called to say he had a Beetle for him he knew that, due to his line of business, this Beetle was never going to win any beauty contests and he was right. The Senegal Red (L31A) 1975 1300 Beetle Deluxe may have started its life off at Thomastown Garage in Thomastown in Kilkenny but it was about to finish its life in Kerry. As you can see from the photos, this Beetle is very rusty but it will donate many parts which will keep other Beetles on the road or will help many owners finish their restorations so all is not lost for this Beetle that was assembled in MDL in January 1975.
