Another Wicklow registered Beetle that Trevor has found in the archives is this 1970 1200 Beetle Deluxe. It was assembled in MDL’s Naas Road plant in April 1970 before being delivered to Wicklow to be sold, to a Wicklow based owner on May 1st 1970.
Fast forward quite a few years and this Beetle was seen at the 2018 Jumpstart show in Loughmore, County Tipperary. PNI 455 had some changes since April 1970, with EMPI 8 Spokes, a Zoom Tube exhaust, tinted glass and it has been fully dechromed. The next time we saw it was at the Wells House show in 2019 and it still looked to be in great condition.
