Info

If there is anything nicer than an early Beetle we’d love to hear it! There’s just something simple and functional about the uncluttered design.

This 1961 Beetle is pretty much stock, save for the addition of more modern rear lights at some point in its life, no doubt for safety reasons.

ACI 312 left the MDL plant on the Naas Road in early 1961 in Turquoise L380 headed for its new home in Laois.

What’s very striking it that this Beetle has not been overloaded with period accessories as you might be tempted to do, instead, the owner has chosen to opt for a less in more approach. No stoneguards on the wings, no headlight covers and not even period mudflaps, just simple individual trim covers on the rear window vents. These individual pieces are not so easy to get so they could have opted for the easy off the shelf single unit. Very nicely done!

One of our favourite parts to this beautiful ’61 has to be the original rear number plate, angled to fit the shape of the engine lid!
