Squareback and Type 3 Variant

We don’t know a huge amount about this particular Type 3 Variant as we have only seen the car at shows and never met the owner. We took these photos at Duckets Grove Show in 2019.
The two-tone paint is a clever idea and really sets off the lines of the Variant really well while the 8 Spoke rims are a nice touch without being out of place on what is a stock looking Squareback.
This may have been an Australian import but again, we are only guessing as it has the side repeater indicators and the registration is from May 1979 when it was imported into Ireland and registered for the first time.
What we can see is that it has been lovingly restored and comes with arrow straight bodywork, perfect bumpers (always a nightmare for any Type 3 owner to find) and the interior has been reupholstered in a beautiful cream colour on the seats and door cards. This Variant is a credit to its owner and we wish them many happy miles behind the wheel which we’re sure they will if the rumours of a 2,210cc engine are true!
