Info

It’s not often that we get sequential registrations so from a car nerd’s perspective, this is breaking news!!!! Myself and Trev will have to take the rest of the day off!

Going through Trev’s photo archive, we came across 73 D 901 shortly after we found and added to the Beetle.ie Census, 73 D 902. 73 D 901 was photographed at the Limerick Show in 2002. That year, the show was held in a small village on the outskirts of Limerick called Ballyneety. This Elm Green (L60D) 1300 Beetle Deluxe, again like its imported brother, was a UK car originally, registered there on March 9th 1973. It was imported into Ireland, maybe with 73 D 902, in the early 1990s and was registered to its first Irish owner in Dublin. This 1300 Beetle looked just as original as 73 D 902 and again, we wonder what ever happened to these cars because they were in super condition and were probably imported from the UK for this reason.

Will these Beetles turn up in years to come when someone opens a long since locked garage door? Perhaps, and it would certainly be nice to think that one if not both would show up again some day.
