Thanks to Darren O’Rourke of the Original Irish Aircooled VW Facebook group for this photo. It’s not often we get photos of commercial Type 2s in the wild as they say so this was a real treat. It is, or was, a very late 1977 registered, December 1977 to be exact, Bay Window Single Cab or Pickup that was finished in Neptune Blue (L50K) and fitted with a 1600cc engine.
Sadly, and I suppose not surprisingly, this Pickup didn’t make it onto the digital records of 1993 so was not taxed by that stage. We can only assume, that making it through 16 years of hard work was a little too much to ask for this old VW especially as it looks to have been well worn when this photo was taken.
