Type 2 Bay Window Panel Van

We all dream of finding that one owner and original VW. Sadly, none of us were the lucky ones to find this patina rich Bay Window but Ben Byrne was the lucky person to unearth this September ’77 Bay Window Panel Van.
When Ben found this Panel Van it didn’t look that different to how you see it in these photos that I took in Fermoy in August 2010. It did however need a little bit of loving to bring it to the next level. It spent its life as a builder’s van but unlike many builder’s vans that are worked hard, this Bay Window Panel Van was looked after really well by its owner and had never seen any repairs to the bodywork.
One thing it needed was some rust repair around the windscreen which Ben sorted and finished it off by very carefully blending in the Neptune Blue (L50K) paint so you would never know a repair ever happened. The interior was shot so new TMI seat covers and a new carpet set smartened things up nicely. A slap of the lowering stick brought the 4×4 look down a peg or two and of course, they’re not stock Bay Window rims!
